Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane will initiate a significant upgrade to its water system beginning July 7, impacting traffic on Francis Ave. and Assembly St. This project aims to install a new water transmission main, enhancing water reliability in the area. Spanning three phases, the first phase will cost $3. 25 million and is expected to be completed by November 2025.

Northbound and southbound Assembly St. will be closed between Rowan Ave. and Francis Ave. , with detours in place for motorists. Temporary traffic signals will be established at the intersection of Francis Ave.

and Assembly St. to manage the flow of rerouted traffic. A noise variance permits work during the hours of 6 a. m. to 6 p.

m. , Monday through Saturday. Future phases will include additional lane and street closures, affecting nearby residential areas. Community support for local businesses impacted by the construction is encouraged during this essential infrastructure improvement.
