Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3, 2025, to celebrate the renovation of Underhill Park's sport courts. The project, completed on budget and on schedule, features two renovated basketball courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, new sidewalks, lighting, landscaping, and fence upgrades. The City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, with support from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office and local donors, funded the improvements. If voters approve the upcoming Parks & Recreation levy, every sport court in the city will receive a full renovation. Parks & Recreation Director Garrett Jones emphasized that the community's feedback indicated a strong desire for better-maintained parks.

The renovated courts have already reopened for community use, enhancing local recreational opportunities. Youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association will assist dignitaries in cutting the ribbon during the ceremony. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to creating functional and welcoming public spaces for all ages and abilities.
