Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will celebrate the renovation of Underhill Park's sports courts with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3, 2025, at 10 a. m. The project, completed on budget and on schedule, included two renovated basketball courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, and upgrades to sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping. Key speakers at the event will include Mayor Brown, Council President Wilkerson, and leaders from local sports and recreation organizations. Funding came from the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office, and support from local sponsors.

Youth basketball players from the Spokane Eastside Reunion Association will participate in the ceremony. If the November Parks & Recreation levy is approved, every sport court in the city would receive a full renovation. Director Garrett Jones noted that community feedback indicated a desire for better-maintained parks, and the renovations aim to create functional and welcoming spaces for all ages. Spokane Parks and Recreation manages nearly 120 properties across 4,000 acres, providing diverse recreational opportunities.
