Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane will start a significant infrastructure project on July 7, impacting traffic at the intersection of Francis Ave. and Assembly St. Motorists should prepare for detours as both northbound and southbound Assembly St. will be closed between specific junctions. The city is investing $3.

25 million in this project to improve water reliability and accommodate future growth in the northwest region. The initiative encompasses three phases, with phase one focusing on the water transmission main installation. Other infrastructure improvements will include enhancements to sewer, stormwater, and traffic systems. The project is set to conclude by November 2025, with noise work allowed from 6 a. m.

to 6 p. m. Monday through Saturday. Temporary traffic signals will be installed to manage rerouted traffic flows during construction. Access to local businesses and the Dwight Merkel Complex will remain available via detours.
