Water System Project Will Impact Northwest Intersection

Spokane's water system upgrade will commence on July 7, impacting traffic on Francis Ave. /Hwy 291 and Assembly St. Motorists are advised to plan for detours and slow down for safety. The $3. 25 million initiative involves installing a new water transmission main to improve reliability and support future growth.

Phase one includes northbound Assembly St. closures between Rowan Ave. and Francis Ave. , maintaining access to the Dwight Merkel Complex via Rowan. Temporary traffic signals will guide drivers through the intersection of Francis Ave.

and Assembly St. Future phases will also affect N. Royal Dr. and W. Lyons Ave.

The project aims to enhance critical infrastructure in northwest Spokane. Completion is projected for November 2025.
