Pedestrian and Bike Improvement Projects Begin Next Week
Spokane will launch two pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects starting June 30, enhancing safety and accessibility in the city. The Lincoln St. project will close the stretch between Boone Ave. and Sinto Ave. through September, adding buffered bike lanes and widening sidewalks.
Motorists will face detours and should prepare for delays, with certain intersections closing for up to two weeks. Concurrently, the Maxwell Ave. improvements will add sidewalks and crosswalk enhancements, funded by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which aims to reduce climate pollution and improve public health. Both projects will maintain local residential access while ensuring that businesses remain reachable. These upgrades are essential for fostering a safer environment for cyclists and pedestrians.
The city urges community members to support local businesses during the construction phase. Information on road obstructions is available on the city’s construction webpage.
