Pedestrian and Bike Improvement Projects Begin Next Week

Spokane, WALocal News

Starting June 30, Spokane will implement two pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects to enhance safety and infrastructure. The Lincoln St. project will involve closures from Boone Ave. to Sinto Ave. until September, with improvements including buffered bike lanes and a new traffic signal at Broadway Ave.

Meanwhile, the Maxwell Ave. upgrades will add sidewalks and buffered bike lanes between Pettet Dr. and Walnut St. , with completion expected in October. These efforts are supported by funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, which aims to reduce climate pollution and improve public health.

Motorists should anticipate detours and slower speeds, while local residential access will remain intact. Businesses in the area will continue to operate, and residents are urged to support them during construction. For the latest obstruction information, visit the City’s construction webpage. These projects reflect Spokane's commitment to improving urban mobility and safety for all users.
