Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will celebrate the ribbon-cutting for renovated sport courts at Underhill Park on July 3 at 10 a. m. The event will include local youth basketball players, city officials, and community representatives. The renovations, which included two basketball courts, two dedicated pickleball courts, and new sidewalks and lighting, were completed on time and within budget. Funding came from the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching state grant, and local donations.

The sport courts reopened for community use last fall, with final landscaping completed this spring. A proposed Parks & Recreation levy in November aims to fund similar renovations for every sports court citywide. Director Garrett Jones highlighted the importance of maintaining parks to create safe, functional spaces for all ages. The project reflects community desires for enhanced recreational facilities as expressed during the Master Plan outreach.
