Pedestrian and Bike Improvement Projects Begin Next Week

Spokane, WALocal News

Starting June 30th, Spokane will launch two pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects aimed at enhancing safety and infrastructure. The Lincoln St. project will close sections between Boone Ave. and Sinto Ave. , introducing buffered bike lanes and a new traffic signal at Broadway Ave.

This project aims to improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians while creating a more accessible urban environment. Concurrently, the Maxwell Ave. project will enhance connectivity in the West Central Neighborhood with new sidewalks and buffered bike lanes, supported by funds from the Climate Commitment Act. Residents should anticipate traffic delays and slower speeds as work commences, with local access to homes maintained. Businesses affected by the construction will remain accessible, and officials encourage community support for these establishments.

The projects are part of Spokane’s commitment to improving public safety and promoting sustainable transportation options. Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly during peak traffic hours.
