Area Fire Marshals and Surrounding Cities Enact Burn Restrictions

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane area fire marshals instituted burn restrictions on June 30, 2025, to address heightened wildfire risks, even after recent rainfall. The restrictions prohibit unauthorized open burning and recreational fires, with the aim of preventing human-caused wildfires. Fire Marshal Lance Dahl highlighted the need for safety during the summer months, where outdoor burn restrictions are commonplace. Violators who do not comply with extinguishing fires when ordered could face misdemeanor charges. Approved outdoor devices, such as barbeques and chimineas, remain permissible if used correctly.

The Spokane Valley Fire Department urges residents to practice fire safety and remain vigilant during the wildfire season. They also stress the importance of maintaining air quality, especially for vulnerable populations. For inquiries about burn restrictions, local agencies are available for guidance.
