Underhill Sport Court Renovation Ribbon Cutting July 3, 10 a.m.

Spokane, WALocal News

Spokane will celebrate the opening of renovated sport courts at Underhill Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 3, featuring local dignitaries and youth athletes. The project included the refurbishment of two basketball courts and two dedicated pickleball courts, as well as enhancements to sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping. Funded by the City of Spokane Parks & Recreation, a matching state grant, and local sponsors, the project was completed on time and within budget. Parks & Recreation Director Garrett Jones highlighted community input as a driving force for these improvements, aiming to create functional and welcoming parks. If the upcoming Parks & Recreation levy receives voter approval in November, every sport court in Spokane could undergo similar renovations.

The project not only improves facilities but also promotes active community engagement and safe gathering spaces. Spokane Parks and Recreation manages nearly 120 properties over 4,000 acres, providing diverse recreational opportunities. The initiative reflects a commitment to enhancing quality of life through better-maintained public spaces.
