Pedestrian and Bike Improvement Projects Begin Next Week

Spokane, WALocal News

Starting June 30, Spokane will implement two significant pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects. The Lincoln St. project, spanning from W. Boone Ave. to W.

Sinto Ave. , aims to enhance infrastructure with buffered bike lanes, widened sidewalks, and a new traffic signal at Lincoln St. and Broadway Ave. This project is expected to last until September, with motorists advised to use alternate routes due to detours and potential delays at intersections. Concurrently, the Maxwell Ave.

project will upgrade amenities between Pettet Dr. and Walnut St. , improving connections to AM Cannon Park and the West Central Community Center. Funded by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, this initiative also focuses on reducing climate pollution and enhancing public health. Both projects are designed to maintain local residential access while ensuring businesses remain accessible during construction.

Residents should be prepared for slower speeds and traffic disruptions as work progresses. By supporting local businesses, community members can help mitigate the impact of these necessary improvements.
