Fast Response Contains Suspicious Brush Fire in Latah Valley
Spokane firefighters successfully contained a suspicious brush fire in the 2900 block of West Thorpe Road at around 3:45 p. m. on June 18, 2025. The fire was spotted by Battalion 1 while they provided mutual aid for another wildfire in the area. Firefighters, supported by the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and Spokane County Fire District 10, arrived promptly and engaged the fire, containing it within an hour.
After securing the area, they began mopping up hot spots to prevent further flare-ups. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with authorities considering it suspicious.
