City Closures Planned for Juneteenth

Spokane City Hall will close on Juneteenth, June 19, to honor the federal holiday that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Other closures include the Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, and all Spokane Public Library branches. While on-street parking meters will not require payment, all parking rules, including time limits, still apply. Spokane 311 will be available for phone and online inquiries, ensuring residents can access city services. Garbage and recycling collection will proceed normally, as will operations at the Waste-to-Energy facility and Spokane County transfer stations.

Riverfront Park attractions, such as the Numerica SkyRide and the Looff Carrousel, will be open, offering recreational options during the holiday. The Spokane City Council will meet on June 23, providing updates and legislative discussions that affect local governance. The observance of Juneteenth reflects the city's commitment to recognizing important historical events and promoting community awareness.
