City Closures Planned for Juneteenth
Spokane City Hall will close on Juneteenth, June 19, in observance of the federal holiday recognizing the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Additional closures include the Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, and all public library branches. On-street parking will be free, but drivers must still adhere to existing time limits. Essential services such as garbage, recycling, and food waste collection will continue without interruption, while the Waste-to-Energy facility will remain operational. Spokane City Council plans to meet on June 23, with agenda details available via CityCable 5 and online streaming.
Riverfront Park attractions like the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide will be open, alongside city golf courses and splash pads. Juneteenth serves as a significant date for community reflection and celebration, with various events planned. Local residents can check the city’s blog for more information on upcoming Juneteenth community events.
