City Closures Planned for Juneteenth
Spokane will close City Hall and other municipal facilities on Juneteenth, June 19, to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, and all public library branches will also close. On-street parking meters will not require payment, but time limits will still apply. Garbage, recycling, and food and yard waste services will operate on their usual schedules. Spokane 311 will provide customer service inquiries via phone and online.
Riverfront Park attractions, including the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will remain open, as will city golf courses. Spokane City Council plans to meet on Monday, June 23, for a legislative meeting. Juneteenth serves as a federal holiday, reflecting the ongoing significance of civil rights in the U. S.
