Fast Response Contains Suspicious Brush Fire in Latah Valley

Crews arrived within ten minutes in the 2900 block of West Thorpe Road and discovered a grass and brush fire covering less than an acre. Firefighters engaged the fire with assistance from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and Spokane County Fire District 10. The coordinated efforts allowed them to control the blaze and begin mopping up hot spots just over an hour after their arrival. The cause of the fire is under investigation and is considered suspicious, prompting authorities to seek information about a dark-colored Ford Ranger seen leaving the scene.
