City Closures Planned for Juneteenth

Spokane City Hall and various city services will close on Juneteenth, June 19, recognizing the emancipation of enslaved Black Americans. Spokane Municipal Court, Community Justice Services, and library branches will also be shuttered for the holiday. While on-street parking will be free, all parking rules, including time limits, will still apply. Essential services, including garbage, recycling, and food & yard waste collection, will operate as scheduled, alongside the Waste-to-Energy facility and transfer stations. Riverfront Park attractions, such as the Looff Carrousel and Numerica SkyRide, will be open, providing recreational options for residents.

Spokane 311 employees will be available for customer service inquiries via phone or online. The Spokane City Council will meet on June 23 for a legislative meeting. Juneteenth serves as a federal holiday, emphasizing the significance of this historical moment in U. S. history.
