A suspicious brush fire ignited in Spokane's Latah Valley on June 18, 2025, leading to an immediate response from local firefighters. Battalion 1, while providing mutual aid for another wildfire, spotted a smoke column and acted swiftly to assess the situation. Firefighters arrived at the scene in the 2900 block of West Thorpe Road within ten minutes, discovering a grass and brush fire burning in a timbered area. The Spokane Fire Department, along with support from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and Spokane County Fire District 10, contained the fire in just over an hour. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with officials labeling it suspicious.

Investigators seek information regarding a dark-colored Ford Ranger that was seen leaving the area shortly after the fire began.
