Teen accused of Spanaway, WA house party murders held on 2 million bail
In Spanaway, Washington, 17-year-old Davion Williams is being charged as an adult for the murder of two teens at a house party that turned violent. With a record of violent offenses, including firearm possession and assault, Williams appeared in court where he pleaded not guilty, leading to his bail being set at $2 million. Surveillance footage from the party captured Williams shooting at two individuals, both of whom were armed, resulting in a total of six people being shot, including Williams himself. The party, hosted by a 17-year-old girl and supervised by her mother, drew around 50 attendees. Neighbors had alerted authorities about the raucous gathering over an hour before the shooting, but police were unable to respond due to other priority calls.
Deputy Carly Cappetto stated that the department was stretched thin that night, prioritizing urgent incidents over noise complaints. As the investigation unfolds, the defense claims that there may have been a misidentification of Williams in connection with the shooting. The community is now grappling with the aftermath, as families of victims seek support through fundraising efforts.
