WSDOT Preps for Second Five-Day Closure to Complete Diverging Diamond Interchange

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

WSDOT plans a second full closure of SR 18 to finalize the diverging diamond interchange, expected in the weeks following the July Fourth holiday. This closure will mirror previous detours around the site, utilizing eastbound and westbound I-90 exits. Concurrently, WSDOT is enhancing fish habitats by removing barriers along Deep Creek and Lake Creek, allowing access to 11. 2 miles of vital aquatic habitat for species like salmon and steelhead. The restoration efforts coincide with the construction timeline for widening SR 18 to two lanes in each direction, projected to be completed by late 2025.

The project also includes an asphalt layer addition in summer 2025 and finish paving by fall 2025. Residents are encouraged to visit WSDOT’s booth at Fall City Day to learn about the diverging diamond interchange and ask questions about the project. WSDOT aims to provide real-time updates through its mobile app and social media channels as the project progresses. Engaging local communities enhances awareness and support for these vital infrastructure improvements.
