NEW Downtown Chimes and Siren Now Signal Noon Hour in Snoqualmie

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The historic noon siren in downtown Snoqualmie will receive a new companion as the bells from Snoqualmie United Methodist Church join it on November 1, 2025. This initiative follows a supportive vote from the SnoValley Chamber and church members, aiming to honor the siren's legacy while creating a more pleasant experience for visitors. Resident Carol Peterson proposed the compromise to celebrate the contributions of notable local figures, including past mayor Charles Peterson and electrical expert Ed Wenty. Both the fire siren and church bells share a rich history of over 100 years in the community. The siren, originally from the former fire station, called firefighters into action and remains a symbol of local heritage.

Ed Wenty's son continues to monitor the siren, ensuring its operability. Businesses and church members emphasized the importance of continuing these traditions. This collaboration signifies a unified effort to preserve Snoqualmie's cultural legacy while adapting to modern sensibilities.
