NEW Downtown Chimes and Siren Now Signal Noon Hour in Snoqualmie

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The daily noon siren in downtown Snoqualmie will be joined by the bells of the Snoqualmie United Methodist Church starting November 1, 2025. This decision aims to respect the historical importance of the fire siren while reducing disturbances for visitors. The fire siren, historically used to alert firefighters, is now positioned atop the Sigillo Cellars building. The collaboration reflects over a century of history shared by both the siren and the church, emphasizing the community's commitment to preserving local traditions. Carol Peterson, a longtime resident, introduced the compromise to honor past mayor Charles Peterson and electrical wizard Ed Wenty, both influential figures in Snoqualmie's history.

The public will hear the church bells chime first, followed by a shortened version of the fire siren. The SnoValley Chamber and church members voted positively on this change, illustrating its significance to the community. Ed Wenty's son continues to oversee the siren, ensuring its ongoing legacy.
