NEW Downtown Chimes and Siren Now Signal Noon Hour in Snoqualmie
Starting Nov. 1, 2025, the historic fire siren in downtown Snoqualmie will sound alongside the bells of the Snoqualmie United Methodist Church at noon. This initiative, which received approval from the SnoValley Chamber and church members, aims to provide a more soothing experience for visitors while maintaining a connection to the town's history. Carol Peterson, a longtime resident, proposed this compromise to honor the legacy of the fire siren and pay tribute to influential local figures, including past mayor Charles Peterson and electrical expert Ed Wenty. The fire siren, originally from the old fire station, has marked emergencies for generations, while the church's bells have similarly served the community for over a century.
Both sounds will now play sequentially, with the church bells chiming first, followed by a shortened version of the fire siren. This change reflects the community's desire to uphold traditions while adapting to modern needs. The collaboration between the church and local businesses signifies a unified effort to celebrate Snoqualmie's rich heritage. Ultimately, this initiative underscores the importance of preserving historical landmarks and sounds that define the community's identity.
