North Bend opens applications for its 2026 Citizens Academy, an interactive program aimed at demystifying local government for residents. The eight-week course runs from February 2 through March 30, with a recognition event scheduled for April 7, 2026. Participants will meet city leaders and staff while learning about various aspects of governance, including finance, public safety, and community development. The program also features tours of local parks, Eastside Fire and Rescue, and the Wastewater Treatment Plant, providing hands-on experience. Applications will be accepted starting November 6, prioritizing the first 25 applicants, especially those living within North Bend city limits.

Residents aged 16 and older can apply, with nearby non-residents also encouraged to submit applications. This initiative aims to foster civic engagement and deepen understanding of local governance. The academy represents a valuable opportunity for community members to connect and learn how North Bend serves its residents.
