NEW Downtown Chimes and Siren Now Signal Noon Hour in Snoqualmie
Starting November 1, 2025, Snoqualmie will feature a combined noon signal from the historic fire siren and the bells of the Snoqualmie United Methodist Church. The fire siren, which once alerted firefighters to active blazes, will now sound alongside the church bells to create a more pleasant experience for visitors. This compromise originated from Carol Peterson, a long-time resident, and garnered support from the SnoValley Chamber and church members. The initiative honors the memories of past mayor Charles Peterson and electrical expert Ed Wenty, both influential figures in the community. The siren and church each boast over 100 years of history, reflecting the importance of these traditions to local businesses and residents.
Community members emphasized the need to continue this legacy while adapting to modern sensibilities. Ed Wenty's son currently oversees the siren, ensuring the connection to its historical roots remains intact. This new arrangement demonstrates the town's commitment to preserving its heritage while fostering a welcoming environment.
