Recycle Corps Summer Interns Help Educate Community on Recycling and Waste Reduction

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The City of Snoqualmie partnered with Waste Management this summer to boost community education on recycling and waste reduction through the WM Recycle Corps program. Ten interns engaged with hundreds of local businesses, apartments, and condos, focusing on improving recycling quality. They promoted the three C's—convenience, clarity, and capacity—to help businesses adopt effective recycling practices. This innovative program, recognized with the Gold Excellence Award from the Solid Waste Association of North America, aims to develop leaders committed to sustainability. The interns not only provided education but also participated in community events like Big Truck Day and the Snoqualmie Firefighters Pancake Breakfast.

Their efforts included offering resources and answering questions about recycling at the Recycle Right® booth. The city encourages residents to recycle responsibly by avoiding contamination with food and liquids. Proper recycling practices contribute significantly to Snoqualmie's sustainability goals and community well-being.
