Railway Crossing Upgrades to Begin in North Bend After Council Approval Closures Start October 26

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The North Bend City Council approved a $4. 8 million Railway Crossing Capital Project aimed at upgrading four railway crossings this fall. The funding comes from the Washington State Department of Transportation's 2023 Rail-Highway Crossing Program grant. Construction will commence with closures on State Route 202 and Main Avenue S starting October 26, with detours to manage local traffic. Contractor Stacy Witbeck will operate day and night to expedite the work.

Later in November, additional crossings on NW 8th Street and North Bend Way will also be upgraded. The project will install new concrete panels, signals, and crossing gates, enhancing safety for commuters. As part of the upgrades, the track will shift southward to facilitate future parking improvements. These enhancements are vital for improving travel quality and safety in the area.
