Monthly News from Mayor Katherine Ross

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The International Block Party held on September 6th in Snoqualmie attracted hundreds of residents eager to celebrate their community's cultural diversity through traditional dance, music, and food vendors. Mayor Katherine Ross highlighted the significance of such events in fostering unity and understanding among residents. At the September 22 City Council meeting, the council proclaimed October as Hindu Heritage Month, honoring the contributions of Hindu Americans to the city's fabric. Mayor Ross also met with Jerry Johson, who shared the history of Riverview Park, originally established through a land donation by his father-in-law, Charles Smith, the city's first Parks Supervisor. Johson donated several historic photographs of the park to the city, which will be digitized for archival purposes.

This effort underscores the importance of preserving local history and enhancing community engagement. The celebration of diversity and local history reflects Snoqualmie's commitment to inclusivity and historical awareness. Such initiatives contribute to the ongoing dialogue about the city's cultural identity and heritage.
