WM Recycle Corps Interns Support Snoqualmie with Summer Recycling Education

The City of Snoqualmie collaborated with Waste Management this summer to enhance local sustainability through the WM Recycle Corps program, employing ten interns. These interns provided education on recycling and waste reduction, reaching hundreds of businesses and residents. Their outreach focused on improving recycling practices, guided by the “three C’s”: convenience, clarity, and capacity. By co-locating recycling containers and providing clear instructions, the interns helped streamline waste sorting efforts. They also participated in community events, including Big Truck Day and the Snoqualmie Firefighters Pancake Breakfast, where they addressed local questions about recycling.

Residents can further support sustainability by recycling correctly and avoiding contamination. This initiative not only promotes better recycling practices but also aims to develop community leaders committed to sustainability. The WM Recycle Corps has received recognition for its innovative approach, earning the Gold Excellence Award from the Solid Waste Association of North America.
