North Bends Seasonal Water Conservation Ordinance Returns August 15

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The City of North Bend will activate its Water Conservation Ordinance (WCO) on August 15 due to reduced winter precipitation and early snowmelt. Introduced in 2020, the WCO aims to safeguard the Snoqualmie River while encouraging sustainable water use. Stage 1 guidelines restrict irrigation to the hours of 6 p. m. to 10 a.

m. , allowing hand watering at any time. City officials anticipate a potential shift to Stage 2 by late August, due to below-average snowpack in the watershed. The ordinance applies to all property owners and water customers, promoting community awareness rather than strict enforcement. Although fines of up to $200 may be imposed for repeated violations, the focus remains on voluntary compliance.

The city highlights that police will not actively monitor watering times. For further details on the WCO, residents can visit the city’s website.
