Snoqualmie Valley Museum Asks for Community Help to Complete Major Upgrades

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The Snoqualmie Valley Museum is launching a campaign to raise $40,000 needed to complete a $320,000 improvement project focused on accessibility and climate stabilization. Significant funding from the City of North Bend and 4Culture has already enabled the installation of new HVAC systems, improving visitor comfort during peak heat. Executive Director Cristy Lake highlighted that the museum's original structure was not intended for public use, making these upgrades essential for community access. Planned improvements include an ADA-compliant door, insulation upgrades, and a new processing room for digitizing collections. The museum has a history of addressing recommendations from a 2008 collections assessment, gradually upgrading facilities over 16 years.

Community members can contribute to specific projects, such as attic insulation or benches, to make a lasting impact. The improvements aim to enhance the overall visitor experience and support educational programs. Ensuring that the museum meets modern accessibility and climate standards is crucial for preserving local history.
