New Narcan Pickup Site Opens at Snoqualmie Fire Station

Snoqualmie, WALocal News

The Snoqualmie Fire Department has initiated a program to distribute free Narcan, an opioid overdose reversal medication, in a partnership with the Washington State Department of Health. This initiative seeks to save lives, enhance accessibility, and shift conversations around opioid use from blame to harm reduction. Residents can pick up Narcan at the Snoqualmie Fire Station, which operates daily from 7 am to 8 pm. The station will also be included in the Naloxone Finder, a resource for locating Narcan distribution points throughout Washington. This effort aligns with the fire department's broader mission to educate the public on opioid dangers and overdose prevention.

In 2023, the department became the first in Washington to receive a grant for these educational initiatives. The program aims to empower community members to intervene in overdose situations before emergency responders arrive. By preventing overdoses, the initiative also aims to lower healthcare costs associated with emergency services.
