A true survivor Heart surgery survivor throws pitch

Blake Camus, a 9-year-old heart disease survivor, threw a ceremonial first pitch at the Everett AquaSox game on May 31, showcasing his journey of resilience. Born with several heart defects, Camus has bravely endured three open heart surgeries. The American Heart Association organized the event to raise awareness for childhood heart conditions. Avery Hultz, also 9, of Olympia, was named “Fan of the Game” after successfully overcoming a heart condition linked to Kawasaki disease. Both children serve as Youth Heart Ambassadors for the American Heart Association in Washington state, advocating for heart health.

Their participation highlights the importance of raising awareness and support for pediatric heart conditions.
