Closed Snohomish fishing dock also to get new decking in fixes

Snohomish, WALocal News

The Robert S. Keaton fishing dock at Hill Park is being repaired after crews discovered extensive rot in its deck during renovations. The City Council approved an additional $48,957. 66 for materials and labor, raising the total project budget to $183,000. City parks workers are currently busy with playground installation at Fischer Park, which led to the decision to hire a specialized underwater construction company for the dock repairs.

Councilman Felix Neals emphasized that pursuing bids for the deck would delay the reopening of the dock into summer. The new deck will feature Douglas fir planks, steel piles, and Douglas fir joists to ensure durability. This dock is one of two on Blackman Lake, with the other being a floating metal dock. The Snohomish Sportsman’s Club and the Snohomish Tillicum Kiwanis Club previously fundraised to help install both docks. The repairs are vital for maintaining recreational access for the community.
