Local farmers markets expand and innovate for 2025 season

The Monroe Farmers Market returns for its eighth season on May 28, operating every Wednesday from 3 to 7 p. m. until September 24. Featuring over 180 vendors, the market maintains a vendor ratio of 70% farm-related produce, 20% artisans, and 10% food trucks, with new additions like Monroe Creamery and Bonnie B Peppers. Community engagement is a priority, with events such as Dog Day on June 25 and Kids Day on August 13 planned for the season.

The Snohomish Farmers Market, celebrating its 35th season, opened on May 1 and runs every Thursday from 3 to 7 p. m. through October, expanding its season by a month. It increased its vendor list to nearly 150 by renting an additional parking lot, emphasizing support for small businesses. The market exclusively features handmade or homegrown products from Washington state and includes live music each week.

A new collaboration with the Snohomish Community Food Bank allows customers to donate cash or non-perishable items, fostering community connections. Market Director Sarah Dylan Jensen highlights the importance of understanding the local food supply chain.
