Fundraiser group 100 Women Who Care seeks more good souls

The initiative 100+ Women Who Care About Snohomish County will hold a fundraising event on May 12 at 6:30 p. m. at the Normanna Lodge. Co-founders Janet Bacon, Susan Rieke, and Dani Hixon launched the group after realizing there was no similar organization in their area following an event in Seattle. Since its inception in April 2019, the group has raised $370,000, with recent donations averaging $19,000 per event.

During gatherings, three local nonprofits are chosen to present five-minute pitches, and attendees vote to determine the recipient. Their last donation of $23,000 went to Work Opportunities, underscoring the effectiveness of community-driven fundraising. Notably, the organization operates without a bank account, acting solely as a conduit for donations. Recipients return three months later to share the impact of the funds on their programs. This model of collective giving emphasizes community support and engagement in Snohomish County.
