Snohomish County Adopt-A-Road Program Celebrates Long-Term Volunteers, Adds New Adoptable Sections
Snohomish County honored long-term volunteers of the Adopt-A-Road program on April 22, 2025, recognizing Joe Hernandez and his team for ten years of roadside litter cleanup. During the ceremony, County Executive Dave Somers commended the initiative for fostering civic pride and encouraging community collaboration. Established in 2008, the program connects volunteers with sections of unincorporated county roads, requiring groups to commit to at least two litter pickups annually. Currently, the program includes 43 groups managing 51 sections, with 11 newly available sections in the Lynnwood and Bothell areas. Public Works Director Kelly Snyder noted the program's importance in maintaining the county's beauty alongside the efforts of the Litter Wranglers and Environmental Clean-Up teams.
The county is committed to expanding the program further to meet the growing need for litter management. Hernandez's group is one of four active participants with over ten years of service, showcasing the program's longevity and community impact. The county encourages interested groups to visit the Adopt-A-Road webpage for more information.
