Trails nonprofit seeks volunteers for Everett project

Snohomish, WALocal News

The Washington Trails Association (WTA) is mobilizing volunteers this week for enhancements to the Loganberry Lane Trail system in Everett, amid federal funding freezes affecting its broader operations. The WTA will focus on local projects during this period, with specific improvements aimed at enhancing trail access and protecting the environment. City spokeswoman Simone Tarver stated that the local funding for these trail enhancements remains unaffected by federal budget cuts. Work parties are scheduled for April 24 to April 26, welcoming volunteers without prior trail maintenance experience. WTA employee Brandon Tigner highlighted the ongoing need for volunteer support, especially with limited resources from federal land managers.

Improvements will include new signage, fencing, and cleanup of social trails to promote native plant growth. Interested volunteers can sign up for the April 24 work party, while the following days are already full. The WTA encourages community members to get involved in improving local trails and fostering connections among residents.
