Snohomish fishing dock to be rebuilt this year

Snohomish, WALocal News

The Snohomish City Council approved a $135,000 contract with Aqua Dive Services to repair the closed fishing dock at Hill Park. The project includes replacing 27 wood joists, repairing deteriorated piles, and fixing the decking. The Robert S. Keaton Memorial fishing dock, named after a local resident who passed away in 1980, was closed in January 2024 due to safety concerns highlighted in a city facilities report. A July 2024 inspection indicated that 21 of the dock’s 51 wooden piles showed signs of deterioration.

The city has set aside budget funds for the repairs, reflecting the dock's significance for local recreational fishing. Aqua Dive Services specializes in underwater maintenance and construction, which is crucial for this project. The other dock at Hill Park is made of metal and remains open for public use. Repairing the closed dock will enhance safety and accessibility for the community.
