Everett, WA home notorious for fights, dog abuse and drugs cleared

Snohomish, WALocal News

The ongoing issues at a notorious property in Everett, WA, finally came to a head as city officials succeeded in boarding up a home plagued by fights, drug use, and animal abuse. Local police had been called to the residence more than 16 times, responding to various emergencies including drug use, welfare checks, and fires. Disturbingly, animal control removed a dog from the site that tested positive for methamphetamine. Despite the seriousness of the situation, city officials encountered significant bureaucratic obstacles that delayed intervention. It wasn't until April 2024 that the code enforcement department was alerted, leading to the property being condemned in June.

The biggest challenge was identifying the owner, who had personal issues that complicated the situation. After months of negotiation, the owner permitted the city to clear the property and secure it. The new owner is now focused on restoring the property and improving community safety, encouraging residents to report nuisance issues to prevent similar situations in the future.
