The Snohomish County Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) unveiled its 2024 Annual Report, detailing impactful projects and initiatives that serve the local community. A standout achievement was the acquisition of $43. 3 million in grant funding, with a remarkable $33 million directed to the Surface Water Management (SWM) division. This funding included a record $16. 3 million grant for the Chinook Marsh project, underscoring DCNR's leadership in environmental conservation.

The report noted that over 8,000 volunteer hours were donated, showcasing community involvement in enhancing local natural resources. Significant projects completed in 2024 include the Corcoran Memorial Park and various energy efficiency upgrades for low-income homes, which can reduce energy bills by up to 30%. The Office of Energy and Sustainability also finalized a Land Conservation Strategy to prioritize high-conservation lands. As County Executive Dave Somers stated, DCNR is committed to addressing climate change through bold actions.
