Architects directed to lower Snohomish Civic Campus pricetag
The city of Snohomish is revising the design of its Civic Campus to lower the projected costs of the project, as Mayor Linda Redmon informed the City Council. The campus is intended to replace the existing City Hall, Police Department, and Public Works shop, with an initial budget of $72. 7 million. City administrator Heather Thomas-Murphy explained that city leaders identified potential areas for scaling back the three-story design, but specific details are still being finalized. While no specific budget target was set for the architects, their updated plans and cost estimates are expected to be unveiled at a City Council meeting in April.
The city is also in pursuit of $11. 5 million in additional funding grants, with U. S. Rep. Suzan DelBene advocating for a $3 million federal earmark and state Sen.
John Lovick pushing for an $8. 5 million state request. This funding strategy may involve long-term municipal bonds and low-interest grants, as discussed in previous meetings. Alongside these developments, Fire District 4 is progressing with its own new headquarters, which will complement the Civic Campus. Together, these initiatives aim to enhance public safety and city services in Snohomish.
