Monroe Improv group invites all to try
The Monroe community can join the Sky Performing Arts (SPA) Improv Team for free workshops every Wednesday night, designed to enhance improvisational skills and foster creativity. Led by team member Spencer Langston and scheduling coordinator Caleb Ponce, the sessions focus on quick-witted responses and adaptability through a variety of improv games. The Improv Team's ultimate goal is to prepare for their upcoming production of "Puss 'N Boots," scheduled to open on May 9. Participants can expect a welcoming environment where they can explore their creativity and connect with fellow improv enthusiasts. The workshops emphasize the importance of collaboration, allowing members to develop rapport and understand each other's styles.
Ponce highlights that improv is not solely about comedy; it's about any improvised acting situation, making it accessible to everyone. With a focus on both short-form and long-form games, the sessions provide a comprehensive workout for aspiring actors. This initiative not only sharpens acting skills but also fosters a strong sense of community among participants.
