Countys future public mountain bike park could be built either near Granite Falls or Monroe

Snohomish, WALocal News

Snohomish County Parks and Recreation has revealed two potential sites for future mountain bike parks: O’Reilly Acres near Granite Falls and Three Lakes Hill north of Monroe. The Three Lakes Hill site will require collaboration with the state Department of Natural Resources to fulfill property requirements. The Parks Department's feasibility study indicates that both locations are well-suited for this initiative due to favorable topography, accessibility, and minimal environmental impact. Sharon Walker, the director of Snohomish County Parks and Recreation, highlighted community feedback that underscored the need for a mountain biking destination. Local mountain biking advocate Jordan La Croix expressed excitement over the study’s findings, noting the community's vibrant spirit surrounding the sport.

The goal is to establish a premier mountain biking park that accommodates riders of various skill levels while hosting events and community gatherings. The Parks Department plans to refine the project and select a preferred site in the near future, with the possibility of completion within five years. Future phases may include expanded trails and amenities, contingent on funding availability.
