Snohomish County Public Works has reported that their crews traveled over 16,000 miles in response to a recent snow and ice event, demonstrating their commitment to maintaining safe road conditions. To assist residents during winter weather challenges, the department provides a range of resources, including a Snow and Ice Response webpage that outlines preparation and response strategies. Interactive maps are available to show which roads have been recently plowed or treated, helping residents navigate safer routes. The Snohomish County Public Safety Hub is regularly updated during emergencies, offering crucial information about snowstorms and available warming shelters. Residents are advised to give snowplows a minimum following distance of 200 feet and to clear drainage inlets near their homes to reduce flooding risks.

Public Works also stresses the importance of moving vehicles off major roads and following road closure signs for safety. With a workforce of nearly 600 employees, the department is dedicated to preserving public safety while managing approximately 1,600 miles of county roads. This proactive approach not only addresses immediate concerns but also reinforces the county's commitment to effective winter weather management.
