Snohomish taking applications for new city arts advisory board

Snohomish, WALocal News

Snohomish is forming an arts advisory board, inviting applications until December 12. This new board will start recommending public art policies and community engagement strategies in 2026. Shari Ireton, Director of Community Engagement, noted that the board will produce templates for artist calls and identify public art locations. The initiative emerged from a 2024 council discussion about a potential Percent for Art ordinance. The board will consist of seven to nine members, ensuring representation from artists, nonprofits, and community members.

This diverse composition aims to foster community involvement in the arts. Members will serve three-year terms, renewable for up to three terms. Funding discussions will follow the establishment of a public art framework for Snohomish.
