Snohomish, WALocal News

The Monroe Bearcats secured a 3-1 victory against the Snohomish Panthers in the Wesco 3A Districts, allowing them to advance to the State Tournament. Junior Shannara Peebles led the Bearcats with 18 kills, while Maddie Walker contributed 19 digs, and Naia Atalig provided 21 assists. The match included a pivotal moment when Snohomish's coach changed jersey numbers, leading to an administrative penalty that awarded Monroe an early point in the third set. Though Snohomish won that set 25-17, the disruption affected their performance, allowing Monroe to clinch the match with a 25-20 win in the final set. Monroe's next challenge is against Gig Harbor on November 21 at the Yakima Sun Dome.

The Panthers, after their loss, will enter the consolation rounds, having previously been eliminated by Ferndale. This match highlighted the competitive nature of the teams, with several long volleys marking the play. Monroe's success reflects their strong season and determination to compete at the state level.
