Snohomish, WALocal News

Snohomish County is illuminating various locations in green as part of Operation Green Light for Veterans, which runs through November 11. This nationwide initiative encourages residents to change one exterior light to green, embodying community support for veterans. Now in its fifth year, the program draws participation from counties across the United States, emphasizing their vital role in assisting veterans with accessing over $52 billion in federal benefits annually. The Snohomish County Veterans Assistance Program provides essential services, including emergency financial assistance and care coordination for veterans and their families. Director of Human Services Mary Jane Brell Vujovic stated that illuminating buildings with green lights is a powerful way to express gratitude for those who served.

Community members can participate by sharing their green lights on social media with the hashtag #OperationGreenLight. The National Association of Counties supports this initiative, advocating for local priorities and promoting best practices for county services. This effort not only recognizes veterans but also fosters a sense of community involvement and appreciation.
