Snohomish County to Celebrate Second Bridge Replacement of the Year
Snohomish County will celebrate the completion of Swamp Creek Bridge 503 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 12, 2025. The new bridge, designed to accommodate nearly 10,000 vehicles daily, features widened lanes and added sidewalks for pedestrian safety. Construction started in early June and aimed to alleviate traffic congestion in the rapidly growing Brier-Bothell area. Public Works Director Kelly Snyder highlighted the project as a vital investment in local infrastructure. The 70-foot-long and 47-foot-wide single-span concrete girder bridge enhances natural stream flow by removing in-stream piles.
A full road closure during construction reduced the overall project duration and costs. The $5. 7 million funding came from the Federal Highway Administration, administered through the Washington State Department of Transportation. The event will recognize the contributions of staff and project partners, acknowledging the community's patience during construction.
